The return of Big Brother

Just as we are still getting over the razzmatazz of Karen Igho and the serene persona of Vina or the soft-heartedness of Luclay or the rashness of Weza, Big Brother leaves on our front door a new twist to the next season.



As is the norm, Big Brother, with every season, turns its audience into housemates while we eagerly await what would befall us or what his wandering mind would cook up this time. And He has been faithful with each of them, ready to surprise us with every new twist in the show. So if you thought this new season would meet your expectation, then you are wrong. Big brother has cooked up something that has never been heard if in the history of big brother reality show. New developments have been put in place this year.

Firstly unlike in the past, the winners reward is going to be tripled this year, well almost. This year, the winner of big brother Africa will whisk away with a whooping sum of USD 300 000. Last year, big brother shocked us all by declaring there would be two winners for that season. Would that continue this year? We would have to find out.

Secondly, now this is the most interesting, the producers of Big brother have claimed that the entrants must double –up to compete. This means that you audition as two friends or couples; regardless of how the entrants are related to each other the key requirement from BBA is that the entrants must be a pair! Still think Big Brother is doesn’t cease to amaze? Think again. Let’s be realistic and think like Big Brother. Peradventure he expects applicants would obviously come in pairs, say siblings or real couples or random friends, and then he splits them, turning them against each other. The drama only gets better.

Thirdly, Big Brother Africa this year has added two new countries to participate .They are Sierra Leone and Liberia. The two countries have never been in the show before but this year they will be incorporated in this experience. Plus it would be interesting to see them active in something like reality because they are normally unheard of in anything but scandals. However, they in turn took the place of Ethiopia, who is out of the game and Mozambique is set to take on a new role that would be made known very soon. So in all, the countries eligible for this season are, Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Applications are currently open and will run till the 25th. Applicants should note though, that this is someone they would stay with, in the confines of the house for 91 days, so choose wisely and carefully who your partner will be (or not so that the drama would be worth the watch). But don’t let the valentine season influence your choice making. It would surprise you what your significant other would do for 300,000USD.
