Tales from THE JUNGLE…LIFE BEFORE AND AFTER…

According to Precious Ojiegebe (GUS 8)

#SERIES1

Its 7 o clock in the morning and I had just woken up. The stench from my neighbors’ bathroom
had just hit my nose and I once again wished they’d at least wash the place before we all died. I
yawn. Turn to look at my own bathroom and silently cursing in my mind that I didn’t have to go
through the rigorous exercise of having my bath…

Most of the viewers of Gulder ultimate search usually assume that the participants of the said
show have no life whatsoever outside the show and as such go to the show and come back mini
celebrities and wannabe superstars (we are anyway). Now, I had a job and I was getting ready
for it. A quick cold shower, a fast ironing of my shirt rumpled the night before by rough folding,
light but filing breakfast and in was out of my house.

Catching a bus to work on any morning on the mainland headed to the island isn’t exactly fun
especially when half the people as just as late as you are; but who was I to blame? I only looked
forward to the comfort of my chair and the cold air conditioning my employer had to offer.

In 30 minutes I was in my office. *phew* safe and sound. I turn on my laptop constantly locked
down to music websites and blogs and get on about my job for the day, I was afterall a Public
Relations and Online Communication Executive at this establishment.

Having done all necessary uploads, I decide to delve a little and check the oh-so popular
webpage www.gulderultimatesearch.tv probably viewed on my laptop a hundred times.

I log into the webpage and voila! GUS8 registrations are on. I panicked. Oh trust me I did, after
trying out for the show 2 times and getting kicked off on the stage twice there is no reason to not
panic.

I called a friend of mine who had been in the show earlier to tell her about what I had just seen as
the caption for the year’s search : “30 contenders, 10 champions, 1 hero”. She is just as shocked
as I am. And just as I’m about to hang up, I look at my wristwatch….. Its 5pm ,The close of
work. I shut down my laptop with a thought in my head…

“You must register for GUS8 tomorrow Promise”

See you next week … don’t stop reading….

It’s Ojiegbe Promise of GUS8….. The adventure didn’t end with the show.
